The Process
What Does the Great Granny Flats Journey Look Like?
-
Kathy will ask you some general questions about your objectives, your budget and any specific requirements that are important to you. Kathy will guide you on next the steps, and send you a simple checklist to complete - this is important for us to understand how we may best help you. Note, Kathy will get back to you if she is busy.
-
Next we’ll arrange an on site inspection, assess your block against the concept plan and your ideas and provide approximate ‘ball-park’ costings. If this is feasible we move to the next stage.
-
This is a pre-construction arrangement where you engage Great Granny Flats to obtain and coordinate the required planning documentation for your project. This is designed to free you of the stress and ensure all the right information is collected. A set of formal plans is prepared by our designer, or architect or draftsman, along with your input. Once all the required documentation is completed, it is submitted for assessment.
-
We’ll work with you to narrow them down so you make sure your new space matches your style and needs. A cost analysis is provided based on your selections; the final building design; the specifics of your block; your location and zoning restrictions/constraints. We include as much pricing information available so there are no surprises.
-
If all parties are happy to proceed, then the building contract can be signed. We will arrange a home warranty certificate and after we receive the deposit, we will schedule the start and completion dates and construction can be organised.
-
Construction is handled by coordinating our experienced local trades and reputable suppliers.
After completion is the formal 'hand-over’ where we give you the keys you get to move in with confidence.
Post-construction - We follow-up to ensure everything runs smoothly after your granny flat is finished.
